DTE Music Energy Theatre- Clarkston, Michigan

July 07, 2010

In a state, like Michigan, which is known for negativity music is an important source of positivity.   The positive vibes from music is a huge legacy that a band should hope to instill to its audience; Pepper has achieved this skill.  The Unity tour featured 311, the Offspring and Pepper at the DTE Music theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.

Hailing from Kailua-Kona Hawaii, Pepper is composed of Yesod Willams (drums), Bret Bollinger (bass), and Kaleo Wasman (guitar).  This trio has had much success since their formation in 1996/1997.  The best way to describe Pepper is Hawaiian reggae-rock style.  Tied together with a high energy performance, this style was a perfect addition to support 311 and the Offspring.  The musical style follows the footsteps of Sublime as they provide a punk rock element and a personable comedic personality.  The set-list consisted of some of their more popular songs which include: “Give it up,” “Things that you love,” “No Control,” and “Crazy Love.”  All of which are great introductions to anyone not familiar with the group.  The group also preformed their latest single “Wake up,” which had fans excited for newer releases that are sure to come.  Their newest album will be released in August and is called Popping Clappers.  The only negative aspect to this concert was the short set which the entire crowd would all agree upon.  However, the assured everyone they would be back in the fall.  Anyone that is interested in feel good music should check out Pepper, there is nothing better for any summer concert.

Pepper’s latest album Pink Crustaceans and Good Vibrations is currently available. Check out the band http://pepperlive.com/  or www.myspace.com/pepperlive
